School Crisis Prevention and Management Workshop

January 25-26, 2019 | Tuba City, AZ

The West Comprehensive Center at WestEd sponsored a two-day professional development workshop for school counselors, administrators, teachers, and other school-based professionals responsible for crisis prevention and management. Effective crisis intervention processes prepare school staffs to handle disturbing events, emergencies, natural disasters, and other deleterious situations that may occur within school settings. Planning and preparedness are essential elements that facilitate a return to normalcy for students and school communities. This workshop helped participants learn how to be proactive, develop and update school crisis plans, prepare school personnel, and collaborate with community safety specialists.
