How We Do the Work
The WCC provides responsive and effective technical assistance that helps state education agencies strengthen their ability to:
- establish organizational structures and performance management systems that support key initiatives;
- use those structures and systems to ensure that districts and schools are provided with high-quality services and supports;
- scale up innovative and effective strategies in districts and schools;
- implement a continuum of supports and interventions to address the specific and varying needs of districts and schools; and
- lead and sustain educational reform efforts.
The West Comprehensive Center and WestEd
In carrying out its work, the WCC profits from the experience and expertise of its parent organization, WestEd, which has operated comprehensive centers for many years. A nonprofit, nonpartisan research, development and service agency, WestEd works at all levels, from local to international, to promote excellence, achieve equity, and improve learning and development for children, youth and adults. Its staff of more than 500 represents deep knowledge in a broad range of education- and human development-related content and process areas as well as research methodology and policy analysis, all of which is available to the West Comprehensive Center in its work with states. More information about WestEd is available at www.wested.org.
